Meditation Practice
Eagerness to attain a peaceful mind is a required foundation for a strong meditation practice. Set an intention today that you desire steadiness of mind. Now, bring it from the astral world to this dimension by setting this resolve. In Yoga culture, this is called a Sankalpa.
It takes effort to acquire a peaceful state of mind. There are two parts to this effort: the first is to find time daily to do your practice. When you train the mind to do something regularly, at the same time every day, this helps to strengthen your practice. The second part is to apply concentration techniques. When we apply proper effort, we can continue the practice for years, decades, a lifetime!
There exists true renunciation and false renunciation. False renunciation is to say we give up everything. True renunciation is not to give up what we have, but rather, to realize that all we have in our life are actually gifts from God.
