In yogic culture, we are encouraged to moderate our senses, and not overindulge in material pleasure.
As we evolve spiritually, we will start to see our true nature, just as the sun is finally revealed after being hidden behind the clouds. The truth is steady, but our perception of truth is limited. False perceptions arise when we identify with the physical body (like a cloud). However, the reality is that we are divine, spiritual beings, eternal, full of truth, and bliss.
In life, distress and happiness come and go. If we remember that all distress only lasts for a while, when we experience distress in the world, we can use it as an opportunity to connect more deeply with divinity and with the divine light within.
